Magifacts

Magifacts, short for "Magical Artifacts", are objects that have special properties and abilities. Some can be used as weapons, while others can be used for more mundane purposes. Magifacts are fairly common throughout most of the Stories in the Storyverse, though the Janitor Menagerie takes great care in documenting Magifacts to ensure they do not cross over into different Stories.

These objects will sometimes depend on a user's own magical ability or energy, while others will basically allow users to use magic without any previous abilities. Magifacts that have existed for an incredibly long time also tend to develop sentience (as well as free will and the ability to speak), effectively turning into something like a Tsukumogami. However, despite their free will, these types of Magifacts still won't be able to use their own abilities, and thus seek out people to go on adventures. Though they are very hardy compared to their normal object equivalents, Magifacts can still be destroyed.

Currently Known Magifacts

The following is a list of some of the known Magifacts throughout the Storyverse. Note that this is not an extensive list, and others may be listed in a particular character's profile.

  • Full Moon Taegeuk - (Turquoise = ice, Lazuli = water), allows for the user to cast ice and water magic, but it must be recharged under the light of the full moon.
  • Halberd of Wonderlands – A halberd that can change in size. Can be very small and carried like a pin, and also extremely large. Regardless of size, its user can still carry and wield it easily. It has gained sentience and is named Nocturne, with "Halberd of Wonderlands" being its official title, though it considers it to be too formal-sounding.
  • The Azurnal Tome of the Stygian Abyss – A spell book filled with various water and water-related spells. Allows a user to cast these spells without needing their own magic (thus humans can cast magic through it). It has gained sentience and insists on being referred to as Maven Azure.
  • Dawnbreaker – Magic sword imbued with light, fire, lightning, metal, and air magic. Users can fire a beam of one of those elements at a time, or otherwise strike with all five at one.
  • Duskrender – Similar to the previous sword, the only difference being the elements it has: dark, ice, water, plant, and earth.
  • Moonlight and Sunlight Revolvers – Pair of revolvers that can shoot magic bullets imbued with elements. Each has six chambers with different elements, and the revolver must be turned to the specific chamber to use a particular element. It won’t move to the next chamber after a shot, so the user can continuously shoot with one element, without needing to adjust chambers unless switching to another element. Sunlight: sun, light, fire, lightning, metal, and air; Moonlight: moon, dark, ice, water, plant, and earth.
  • Starlight Rifle – Users can shoot any elements also found in the above revolvers, but in this case the user must speak which elements they want in order to ‘set’ the rifle to shoot one element at a time. At the least, the rifle will only react to elements spoken by whoever is holding the rifle (it will not switch if more than one person is holding/touching it). However, it won’t differentiate by context.
